I am pleased to announce the appointment of a search committee charged with assisting me in the selection a new Dean of The Anderson School.
Geoffrey Garrett, Vice Provost and Dean of the UCLA International Institute, has agreed to chair the committee. Members from the Anderson School are: Professor Barbara Lawrence, Human Resources & Organizational Behavior; Professor Edward Leamer, Global Economics & Management; and Professor Eduardo Schwartz, Finance. Other members are: Professor Susan Ettner, Department of Medicine; Associate Dean Gerald Kominski & Professor of Health Services; Vice Chancellor Steve Olsen, Budget & Finance and Professor Kenneth Sokoloff, Economics. In addition, Mr. Robert Beyer, President of The Trust of the West Company & member of the Anderson Board of Visitors; Mr. Jay Ferguson, Partner at Kline Hawkes & Co. & member of the Anderson Alumni Board; and Mr. Eugene Rosenfeld, President of the Forest Lane Management Group & member of the Anderson Board of Visitors have agreed to serve on the committee.
To enhance the search efforts, we have also commissioned the services of an executive search firm, Hodge, Neiderer & Cariani represented by Ms. Betty Hasler.

As the Chief Executive Officer, the Dean provides the academic, intellectual and administrative leadership to the School. Acting under authority delegated by the Chancellor, the Dean participates in campuswide planning and is responsible for the supervision of the School’s budget, the allocation of resources, the recruitment and review of faculty, the development and administration of academic and research programs, and the direction of the School’s professional relations and development activities.
We seek a person who possesses demonstrated leadership and administrative experience, and professional qualifications appropriate to appointment to professorial rank within the University. Salary will be commensurate with background and experience. Desirable start date is July 1, 2004.
